Most important: This has been done REALLY FAST! We would ALL love more time & info to do this right, but this is it. Believe me, this will be topic #1 with a bullet for planning next year.
This document contains a listing of OPO projects that affect Web/Print. What
each project actually is is not specified here. This document simply is a "back-of-the-envelope"
estimate on work load, time, and priority of the projects.
The projects are listed with their respective groups in order of priority
and date of work/completion. Each project is a table listing its basic characteristics.
These characteristics are:
- Table border color indicates priority. Priorities are those determined
by the group leads.
The only "real" priority is whether the project is in the "Goddard Plan"
or not. If it is in the Plan, then the HST Project overseers will require
that it be so done as it is stated. Otherwise, the priorities are relative:
Everyone wants everything done, but if something must fall, then this is
how they should fall.

Red border: High priority
Must really be done. If the project is
in the Goddard Plan, it is noted. Projects with hard deadlines will also
be classified High.
Blue border: Medium priority
In general, try to get it done, but its
not in the Plan and there are no particular time constraints.
Gray border: Low priority
Laugh-out-loud! Yea, we'll schedule this...in
all our dreams.
- First row: Project title
- Row "Group": The group who owns this project.
- Row "Priority/Date": The priority is stated (as explained above). Also,
if known, the projected quarter(s) work will occur and/or hard deadlines
which constrain the project.
- Row "Size": The critical element which characterizes the time/workload
the project will require. Possible statements are:
- Fix-By-Friday: Expected to take less than a week with minimal web/print
involvement.
- small: Up to 2 weeks worth of effort.
- medium: Up to 7 weeks worth of effort.
- large: Up to 13 weeks worth of effort.
- x-large: Requires more than a quarter of effort.
- Qualifier "Scheduled as an Update": This project will be scheduled
with other projects similarly marked as "updates".
- Qualifier 50%: generally used to indicate that the project will not
require resources for more than 20 hours a week. Example: a project may
take 5 weeks to complete, but because of downtime waiting for external
participants, will only take 50% time during those 5 weeks.
- Row "Resources": Expected roles that will be required by the project. Specific
terms include:
- Whole team: Project will require a whole production team, including
production manager, customer representatives, etc.
- List of the individual roles
- Row "Notes": Any other information relevant to the project.
